An opportunity for leading researchers from eight member countries of the subregion (7 from WAEMU and Guinea Conakry) to meditate on the implementation of sustainable development goals.
On Thursday, August 16th, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of WASC, Dominique Sohounhloue lead a large delegation to meet Togolese Prime Minister, Komi Selom Klassou.
As the problems differ from one country the other, the latter invited them to elaborate strategies adapted to the opportunities and challenges of each country. He gave the example of Togo who made a true diagnosis to retain three main axes that are inextricably linked.
That is the implementation of a logistic hub of excellence and a business center of first order in the subregion; develop poles of agricultural processing, manufacturing and extractive industries and to use resources and profits generated by the two first lines to consolidate social development and strengthen the mechanisms of inclusion.
"The national plan of development (NPD) is the unique frame of reference for the period 2018-2022 as it takes into account sustainable development goals (SDGS)", he said.
"The findings of your works will promote mainly the agricultural sector on which the economy of the continent is based to meet the challenge related to the transformation of products grown on our soil", reminded the prime minister of Togo.
