It concerns young people from 15 to 35 years that make.
Youth represent 33% of Togolese population. According to the organizers, the main objective is to make young people, actors and beneficiaries of sustainable development take their future in hand.
For this first edition, 50 million will be distributed to the top ten most innovative and realistic solutions. This action will encourage young people to unleash their potentiality that can contribute to sustainable development.
The winners will also receive support from the creation of platform for the project owner to improve the living conditions and enhance the resilience of populations.
I NOV in Togo, YAS in Africa
UNDP is not in its first initiative with “I NOV”, when it comes to action to support youth in achieving the SDGs. Last June, the Africa Department of the institution has launched YAS (Youth for Africa and SDGs) in partnership with Accenture South Africa in Johannesburg on the occasion of the Responsible Business Forum held on June 27 and 28.
Based on 4 main areas which are entrepreneurship information, mentoring, funding and networking it wants to increase access of young African to financing and other support.
"We will continue our efforts to get high quality results, conduct and promote consistency and a greater collaboration within the United Nations system for development," has concluded in June 2016, UNDP Administrator Helen Clark during a speech at the opening session of the Board of Directors of the program in New York.
And to succeed in this mission, UNDP is looking for appropriate and effective ways that could impact actually communities.
This is the main purpose of the new Strategic Plan launched in November 2017 by the program and defined for the 2018-2021 period in order to adapt it to the changing aspects and also to guide its activities for the 21st Century.
"The dramatic changes that we see around the world occur on a scale and at a speed such that our institutions are struggling to cope and require us to more", justifies Achim Steiner, Director of UNDP at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the program.
According to the administrator, the implementation of two new platforms at the country level and worldwide, whose terms are described in the plan, will allow the establishment of more effective support to the culmination to the largest three situations development: eradication of poverty, structural changes and building resilience.
