Ministers Ouro-Koura Agadazi and Ninsao Gnofam, respectively in charge of fishing and public works (TP) visited the site in Baguida on this Friday.
"70% of the time already consumed and the work carried out at 65%, which is a rare performance." We are hopeful that the site will be actually delivered within the time limit and will be one of the most modern fishing ports on the side ', said Ninsao Gnofam at the end of the visit.
The work of the new fishing port are co-financed by the Japan International cooperation agency (JICA) at height of 14.4 billion FCFA and Togo who brings 2.1 billion FCFA.
The new fishing port is built on an area of 7 hectares. If realised, it will have a capacity of 300 boats and equipped with adequate infrastructures of landing, conservation and sale of fish.
Fishing has a place of importance in the national economy. It employs more than 22,000 actors and contributes to more than 4.5% of GDP in the agricultural sector with an average annual production of 20,000 tons, or 80% of domestic production estimated at 25,000 tons.
