EISMV is celebrating 50 years of existence

For the occasion, the leaders want to position the school more in the development of the livestock sector on the continent.

To do so, they focus the activities of this golden jubilee on the theme: "What innovative approaches for sustainable transformation of the livestock sector to healthily feed Africa".

For Professor Ayao MISSOHOU, President of the Scientific Committee of the fiftieth anniversary, "EISMV can position itself as a key element of the green revolution in Africa especially when we observe the great importation of livestock products into Africa despite the self-sufficiency in production of milk and meat of ruminants ".

 He insisted that the question will be, "to take up challenges to reduce this dependence vis-a-vis other continents".

"This event will enable EISMV to make the inventory of its mission and to position itself more in the development of the livestock sector at the Pan-African level," added Pr Yalace Yamba KABORET, General Director of EISMV.

50 years of existence, 50 years of maturity

In 50 years of existence, the school is recognized today as a center of excellence of WAEMU and a collaborating center of OIE.

"EISMV is 50 years of existence, 50 years of maturity with 1400 veterinary doctors trained and made available to East, North, West, Central Africa and France who settled in the service of the public veterinary structures of the different member countries either in the private sector or in NGOs ", congratulate the leaders.

The Minister of Livestock of Senegal, Mrs. Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye praised the quality of the work done by this school of reference over the last 50 years.

"It is with great pleasure that I join in celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of EISMV because, I have faith in science, the dynamism of the school in the development of livestock and animal health in Africa ", she declared.

Mrs. Ndiaye points out that "in the coming years, the needs of populations in animal products will increase according to specialized institutions".

Reminding that the livestock occupies an important place in his country which justifies several projects of reinforcement in the program of Senegal Emergent plan of President Macky SALL, she also said that: "53% of African population raise livestock, hence the importance of livestock breeding, so collaboration between the Ministry of Livestock and EISMV should last".

EISMV of Dakar signed an agreement with the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT) at the opening ceremony of the festivities at the presence imminent personalities including Professor Ahmadou Lamine Ndiaye, Honorary Director of EISMSV, Rector Founder of Gaston Berger University, President of the National Academy of Science and Technology of Senegal and First French President of the African Academy of Sciences. The Inter-State School of Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Dakar (EISMV) is a Pan-African public institution of higher education and veterinary research, common to 15 Member States: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Chad, and Togo.

Is the only French-speaking sub-regional veterinary establishment, one of the oldest schools on the continent and has adapted over time to serve the interests of member States, international organizations and research.
