Launched to last 5 years (2016 to 2020), the initial objective was to create 20,000 jobs at the end of the project.
"But at mid-point 35,000 have already been created, including 14,000 direct jobs," says Kossivi Agbo, Coordinator of PAEIJ-SP. Up to date, he adds, "16 value chains have been set up, 494 agricultural groups have been financed."
Production, purchase, processing, sale of organic agricultural products, including soybeans, maize, cassava and their derivatives are the areas taken into account by the project.
"A project of this nature that has just begun and that records such results, the AfDB can only be proud and ready for new initiatives in this direction in eternal support to the government and the Togolese population," says Georges Bohoussou, Resident Representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Togo.
Today, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is very proud of this initiative.
"We need to transform the agriculture that has to transform rural areas of extreme poverty into prosperous areas. For us, the PAEIJ-SP meets these criteria as set by the president of the institution Akinwuimi Adesina", hammers Mr. Bohoussou.
The goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of poverty by creating decent and sustainable jobs for young people.
